The SP-MON 021 | Robot-assisted production system for defibrillator electrodes
The SP-MON 021 was developed as a robot-assisted production system for electrodes for defibrillators, Smartpads II, III and Nick. The use of three 6-axis robots from Stäubli Robotics revolutionises the production process, which was previously carried out using intensive manual work.
The new SP-MON 021 system enables the employees to be relieved of the complex but monotonous process of assembling the defibrillator pads and to increase output. However, the system does more than just assemble the electrodes. The functional test also takes place fully automatically within the machine. At the end of the assembly and testing process, the result is a complete and certified medical product. The space requirement could be limited to 4.40 × 4.10 metres thanks to the compact design.
The development of the system earned Dessl Maschinenbau a nomination for the Tyrol 2023 Innovation Award in the ‘Technical Innovation’ category. Dessl Maschinenbau GmbH was also nominated for the special Econovius prize, which is subsequently awarded at the State Prize.
